STPASA - Update of the Forecast Lack Of Reserve Level 2 (LOR2) in the NSW Region on 20/05/2024
The Forecast LOR2 condition in the NSW region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 116642 has been updated at 2000 hrs 17/05/2024 to the following:
[1.] From 0600 hrs 20/05/2024 to 0830 hrs 20/05/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1162 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 730 MW.
[2.] From 1600 hrs 20/05/2024 to 1900 hrs 20/05/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1164 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 548 MW.
AEMO is seeking a market response.
AEMO has not yet estimated the latest time it would need to intervene through an AEMO intervention event.

At 1112 hrs the Griffith to Darlington Point 132kV line (99K) and the Darlington Point BESS disconnected.
AEMO did not instruct load shedding.
AEMO observed 5 MW of electrical load lost.
The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.
