ACTUAL NEGATIVE SETTLEMENT RESIDUES - NSW to VIC - 11 December 2024.

Electricity Market outcomes have resulted in the accumulation of negative settlement residues that have exceeded the allowable negative residue threshold for the NSW to VIC directional interconnector.

The negative residue constraint set NRM_NSW1_VIC1 commenced operating from 1700 hrs on 11 December 2024.

This constraint set contains an equation with the following interconnectors on the LHS:
VIC1-NSW1

The RHS of the constraint equation may be adjusted to manage residues.

The Forecast LOR1 condition in the NSW region advised in AEMO Electricity Market Notice No. 121692 has been updated at 1400 hrs 11/12/2024 to the following:

1. From 1500 hrs to 1700 hrs 16/12/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1400 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 700 MW.

2. From 1900 hrs to 2030 hrs 16/12/2024.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1400 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 700 MW.

The minimum capacity reserve available is 1336 MW.

Participant Impact and Requirements: Planned maintenance will be conducted on the 16th of December 2024, between 08:00AM and 05:00PM AEST on the core network infrastructure within the AEMO Market Network in Brisbane.

During the change, there will be two instances of 1-3 second service disruption to MarketNet Services accessed via Brisbane as traffic moves from the active to the standby load balancing unit. All Services should return to normal after this time. Traffic via Sydney will not be affected during this time. AEMO recommends that all market participants with site to site VPN connections currently connected via Brisbane, to switch these connections to the Sydney site as a precaution.

Participants connecting via IPWAN and/or SSL VPN will be automatically connected to the Sydney site and do not need to take any action.
