Update - Lightning vulnerable equipment in QLD region
Update - Lightning vulnerable equipment in QLD region
Special Reclassification of Transmission Equipment during lightning
Refer to AEMO Electricity Market Notice 112581 and 112884.
At 1424 hrs 21/12/2023, the Middle Ridge 275 kV circuit breakers 5432 and 5422 tripped. This offloaded the H14 Middle Ridge No.2 and No. 3 275/110 kV transformers
The cause of the trip was identified as due to lightning.
In accordance with SO_OP_3715, AEMO now considers the H14 Middle Ridge No. 2 and No. 3 275/110 kV transformers to be vulnerable due to lightning.

Minimum System Load 1 (MSL1) in the VIC Region on 31/12/2023
AEMO has detected that there is an elevated risk of insufficient demand to maintain a secure operating state in the Victorian region from 1100 hrs 31/12/2023 to 1400 hrs 31/12/2023.
Minimum scheduled demand is forecast to be 1300 MW at 1300 hrs and the secure threshold for the forecast operating conditions is 2,000 MW.
AEMO is seeking a market response.
An insufficient market response may require AEMO to take action or intervene to maintain power system security in Victoria. This may result in action such as the direction of scheduled generation, curtailment of non-scheduled generation, and/or a direction to increase operational demand.
