Direction - SA region to Pelican Point Power Limited - PPCCGT PELICAN POINT

In accordance with section 116 of the National Electricity Law, AEMO is issuing a direction to Pelican Point Power Limited. For the purposes of the National Electricity Rules this is a direction under clause 4.8.9(a1)(1).

Required actions: Remain synchronised and follow dispatch targets at 0730 hrs 06/02/2025
Services provided: Voltage Control
Circumstances necessitating the Direction:Voltage
Circumstances necessitating the Direction additional detail: intervention is required to maintain the power system in a secure operating state
Expected duration: 1300 hrs 06/02/2025 / further notice.

Pelican Point Power Limited does not incur any civil monetary liability for a relevant action taken in accordance with this direction unless the action is taken in bad faith.

Update - Lightning vulnerable lines in TAS region
Refer to AEMO Electricity Market Notice 124044
At 1410 hrs 03/02/2025 the Farrell - Reece No.1 and No.2 220 kV lines lines tripped.
The cause of the trip was identified as due to lightning.
In accordance with SO_OP_3715, AEMO now considers the Farrell - Reece No.1 and No.2 220 kV lines to be vulnerable with a category of probable due to lightning.

AEMO declares a Forecast LOR1 condition under clause 4.8.4(b) of the National Electricity Rules for the NSW region for the following periods:

[1.] From 1730 hrs 05/02/2025 to 1900 hrs 05/02/2025.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1733 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1581 MW.

[2.] From 1730 hrs 06/02/2025 to 1900 hrs 06/02/2025.
The forecast capacity reserve requirement is 1370 MW.
The minimum capacity reserve available is 1212 MW.
