This consultation on the Metrology Procedure: Part A and Part B was undertaken in response to the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) Final Rule Determination: National Electricity Amendment (Small Generation Aggregator Framework) Rule 2012 ERC 0141
This consultation is being conducted under clause 7.1.4 of the National Electricity Rules (Rules) in accordance with the Rules consultation requirements detailed in clause 8.9 of the Rules.
Background.
On 29 November 2012 Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) published its Final Rule Determination: National Electricity Amendment (Small Generation Aggregator Framework) Rule 2012 ERC 0141. The Rule as made became effective on 1 January 2013.
The Small Generation Aggregator Framework rule change provides more flexibility for the owners of small generating units whereby they have the option to join a Small Generation Aggregator and not be required to individually register and classify each unit with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) to participate in the NEM. The rule change provides the owners of small generators with more options to sell their output.
As a consequence of the final Rule determination, the metrology procedure is to be amended to ensure that references to Generators also include references to Small Generation Aggregators.
The consultation has now been completed, and AEMO has published the Final Determination and Report.
The effective date of amended Metrology Procedure is 1 March 2014.
