ElectraNet has published a Project Assessment Conclusions Report (PACR) for the Managing the Risk of South East SVC Control System Failure Project under the Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T), as required by the National Electricity Rules clause 5.16.
The PACR, which is the final stage of the RIT-T process, identifies only one economically feasible option, which is to replace the two end-of-life Static VAR Compensator (SVC) computer control systems at the South East substation.
The SVC computer control systems are at end of life and require replacement to avoid loss of transfer capability of the Heywood Interconnector should one or both the SVC control systems fail.
The PACR is available for download at www.electranet.com.au.
