Powerlink has recently published a ‘Project Specification Consultation Report’ (PSCR) to address the secondary systems condition risks at Belmont Substation.
Belmont Substation is located in South East Queensland, approximately eleven kilometres south east of the Brisbane CBD, and forms part of Powerlink’s transmission network supplying electricity to the Energex distribution network in the surrounding local area and south of Brisbane.
Several secondary systems at the Belmont Substation are reaching the end of their technical service life and are facing obsolescence with manufacturer support and spares no longer available.
The proposed preferred option that is considered to satisfy the Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) involves replacing selected secondary systems in the free space of the existing building by late 2020.
The estimated capital cost of the proposed preferred option is $8.6 million in 2017/18 prices.
In accordance with the requirements of the Rules, a summary of the PSCR is made available here. A copy of the ‘Project Specification Consultation Report’ can be obtained from the Powerlink website on the RIT-T Consultations page or by emailing networkassessments@powerlink.com.au.
Submissions on the PSCR are required by the closing date of 11 December 2018.
