Victorian role
In Victoria, AEMO has additional energy emergency management responsibilities, detailed in the Victorian Electricity Emergency Communications Protocol (VEECP). The VEECP was established to ensure timely advice and information is coordinated between stakeholders when responding to an energy incident. Signatories to the VEECP include AEMO, Victorian distribution businesses, the Victorian Government, and emergency services across Victoria.
Victorian Electricity Emergency Committee
The Victorian Electricity Emergency Committee (VEEC) includes representatives from the Victorian electricity industry, the state government, and emergency services.
The VEEC’s charter is to develop policies and procedures to ensure the coordination of electricity emergencies in Victoria. The committee also oversees the following working group: VEEC Technical Working Group.

Victorian Electricity Emergency Committee – Technical Working Group
The VEEC Technical working group consists of representatives from industry and the Victorian State Government and reports to the VEEC. The role of the group is to maintain documentation associated with load shedding facilities, load shedding priorities, and load restoration priorities. The working group also reviews the operation of load shedding facilities after electricity emergency incidents. It will also periodically review load shedding and restoration priorities in consultation with stakeholders and review electricity emergency incidents, continuously improving emergency procedures and load shedding and restoration priorities.

Victorian Single Industry Spokesperson protocol
The Victorian Single Industry Spokesperson (SIS) protocol for electricity in Victoria is designed to ensure media, customers, and the general public receive coordinated and timely responses that communicate the agreed key messages and give clear advice about the status of a widespread electricity emergency.
