CER Data Exchange Industry Co-Design
The CER Data Exchange is a key enabler to a customer-centric, flexible and dynamic, and data-enabled electricity system. It is a crucial next step in CER Integration for the energy transition.
In partnership with AusNet Services, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is conducting a collaborative co-design process for the first stage of the development of a national consumer energy resources data exchange (CER Data Exchange). The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is supporting this initiative through a grant from its Advancing Renewables Program.
Through an industry co-design process, the project partners will collaborate with industry and consumer stakeholder groups to develop a high-level design for a national CER Data Exchange and Implementation Roadmap that will provide a digital foundation for a future where integrated CER is a key part of an affordable, zero emissions and reliable electricity system.

CER Data Exchange Public Consultation Summary Report and Webinar
On December 10th, the CER Data Exchange Industry Co-Design Project team hosted a public webinar to share stakeholder sentiments from our consultation paper and outline the industry preferred design for a CER Data Exchange. The recording and presentation can be accessed in the links below.
In this session, the team summarised:
- The detailed submissions received from a broad range of stakeholders – including retailers, distribution network service providers (DNSPs), industry associations, aggregators, technology providers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and advisors.
- How this feedback will shape our ongoing consultation on the high-level design of the CER Data Exchange and implementation strategy
- Outlined the preferred option, next steps, and opportunities for stakeholders to further contribute to the co-design process in 2025.
