Register as an Intending Participant in the NEM

This page outlines the requirements for registering as an Intending Participant in the National Electricity Market (NEM).

Any person, business or organisation that is intending to act in a Registered Participant category in the National Electricity Market (NEM) can apply to be registered as an Intending Participant. By registering in this category, successful applicants are able to gain access to certain data under the National Electricity Rules (NER). However, registration is optional.

To register as an Intending Participant, the person must ‘reasonably satisfy’ AEMO that it intends to carry out an activity for which it must, or may, be registered as a participant in the NEM.

If you are intending to develop plant and to sell the asset to another person before registration, please submit an application to be a Project Developer.
